When I talk about motherhood being a team sport, I don't just refer to the people in your circle. There are also incredible resources online and on your phone that can help support and encourage you as your baby grows.
One of my favorite apps for my phone is Baby Sparks ($18.99/year subscription). This app provides age-appropriate activities to encourage your baby’s development, along with helpful articles tied to each developmental milestone. As Crockett’s awake periods increased in length and we continued to quarantine, I needed fresh ideas on how to engage with him (plus his tummy time mat music was driving me BONKERS). I took to google to research baby apps and landed on Baby Sparks, a decision that I have been very happy with.
The app provides a list of activities daily for you to choose from. At Crockett’s age, these are simple such as introducing new smells, textures, sounds, practicing movement, and helping Crockett discover the world around him. Each activity is accompanied by a video example, the objective of the activity, a list of milestones the activity is designed to help accomplish, and helpful articles related to the particular developmental milestone. I don’t open this app everyday, but when I’m looking for something new to try with Crockett, or wondering how I can be encouraging his development, this is my go-to place. With one subscription, you can download on multiple phones so your partner (and grandma!) can have it too.
Another awesome resource is Bright by Text. The best part about this resource is that it is free! I’ve found these daily texts to be helpful messages of encouragement, information, or suggested activities that are age appropriate. It’s free and simple to sign up. You enter your child’s birthday, your cell phone number, and your zip code.
