hey there! (18).png

First off, welcome! Thank you for taking the time to join me on this journey of motherhood—from the highs of baby’s first smile to the lows of mama crying in the middle of the night feeling like a failure—my goal is to share my experiences and the resources I’ve learned from in hopes that we build a community of empathy and idea sharing to make this journey sweeter for us all. Or just to provide you entertainment and me a cathartic outlet. Either way, here we go.

A little back story on me and my family. I was born in Austin, Texas and raised in the suburb of Round Rock, where I met lifelong friends who continue to be some of my most meaningful relationships. My two older sisters, Jennifer and Juliana (aunt NennNenn and aunt JuJu), are my best friends and have saved my ass on more than one occasion (shout out to all the big siblings out there). I have three precious nephews, Jaxon, Beau, and Tate (sons of Juliana and her husband Travis) and I treasure the title of aunt JacJac. My parents, Myriam and Michael (Siti and Papa) have been married 40 years and are the best example of generosity and kindness in everything they do. We tell my dad that he was meant to raise three girls (shout out to the girl dads out there, it’s a special job title!) and my mom is not just mom to me and my sisters, but every person who has ever entered her life.

I am a seven-year longhorn, having attended the University of Texas at Austin for both my undergraduate degree and law school. UT brought me cherished friendships, a quality I value even more than the education I received there. After law school, I clerked for Justice Green on the Texas Supreme Court before heading to big law for three years (another place I met incredible people and made valuable friendships). Currently, I serve as corporate counsel to a publicly traded software technology company, SailPoint, a job I came to through a friend I made while at the law firm. As you can tell, I am a relationship driven person.

My senior year of college, I met the love of my life, Conley, at a social event in town. We dated all through law school and he proposed in San Miguel de Allende over Christmas break of my final year. We planned our fairytale wedding and were married April 2, 2016. After years of enjoying marriage and scratching our travel itch, we decided to start a family. We tested the waters first with our precious Boykin spaniel pup, Jennings, born February 2, 2019, then decided to dive in with a human baby. We tried for six months before conceiving Crockett, and boy did those six months feel like a lifetime (more on that at some point). After a trip to Italy (thanks to rainy days in Capri!) we came home to the exciting revelation that we were pregnant! Fast forward to February 7, 2020, the day our lives gained a whole new meaning when our son Crockett Anderson Covert was born. Now here we are, quarantined and 10-weeks into Crockett’s life and I’ve started this exciting adventure of sharing this journey with you!

In my journey to and through parenthood, I have found the phrase “it takes a village” to be all too true. I’m surrounded by amazing women whose wisdom, advice and ideas have helped me along the way, and it has inspired me to pay it forward through this blog. This blog aims to gather helpful resources in one easy place, share my experience in hopes that it resonates with someone, and create a positive community of encouragement because if we don’t find joy in what we’re doing, then what’s the point?

Hopefully we will all walk away a little wiser, with a good laugh or the knowledge that we are not alone in whatever the current struggle is because motherhood is a team sport and we all have an important role to play.
